Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 1 November 2026. By submitting an application you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

1. Who can apply

You must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid Kenyan national ID, be a member of our chama, and provide your own correct details. Applying with another person's details is not allowed.

2. Loan amounts and cost

• Loan amounts range from Ksh 800 to Ksh 10,000.
• Interest is a flat Ksh 150 per loan for a period of 14 days.
• A transaction fee of Ksh 20 is charged per application. It covers the cost of the transaction, and it is separate from the loan amount and the interest.
• If we reject your application, your Ksh 20 transaction fee is refunded to your phone number. See our Refund Policy.
• If you repay late, a penalty of Ksh 200 applies (see section 5).
• Example: if you borrow Ksh 5,000, you repay Ksh 5,150 by the due date, plus the Ksh 20 transaction fee.

3. Application and approval

Submitting an application does not guarantee a loan. We may approve, reject or reduce any application at our discretion. You may only have one open loan at a time.

4. Repayment

You must repay the full amount (loan plus interest) by the due date shown when you applied, which is 14 days after the loan is issued. Repayment is made by M-Pesa to the number or payment details we give you. Keep your M-Pesa confirmation message as proof of payment.

5. Late payment

If you do not repay by the due date, a late-payment penalty of Ksh 200 will be added to the amount you owe. We may remind you by phone call, SMS or WhatsApp using the phone number you gave in your application, which is the same number the loan was sent to. Please email us at loan@instanewsbuzz.com before the due date if you expect a problem.

6. Your information

You agree that we may contact you on the phone number you provided about your application, repayment and reminders. Once your loan is fully cleared, we delete your loan record from our system. Unpaid loans stay on record until cleared. You confirm the details you give are true and match your ID. We may reject or cancel an application with false details. How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

7. Contact and complaints

If you have a question or complaint about a loan, email us at loan@instanewsbuzz.com. We reply within 3 hours. We will try to resolve it fairly and quickly.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies to new applications, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
